Evolt Charging Supports Tewkesbury Borough Council Launch New EV Charging Hub

4 July 2025 by Googler

Evolt Charging, the UK’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging business – part of SWARCO Smart Charging, has supported Tewkesbury Borough Council in the launch of a new EV charging hub in the heart of Tewkesbury town centre.

The new hub, located at Spring Gardens car park, which hosts the town’s popular market every Wednesday and Saturday, features eight 7kW Evolt AC chargers that are designed to serve two bays simultaneously. The new chargers have been installed with accessibility in mind, featuring lowered charging sockets and full compliance with the latest PAS 1899 standard.

The chargers are supported by Evolt’s 24/7 customer service team, and maintenance software, to ensure real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics and rapid response support.

The new Spring Gardens charging hub was officially opened by the Council on Wednesday 4 June with an event hosted in partnership with Evolt that included live demonstrations and a Q&A session for residents and visitors about the new charging technology.

Cllr Cate Cody, Lead Member for Climate and Ecology, said: “The EV charge points will attract new customers to the town, as well as enticing tourists to stop off and visit our historic town and the charm of the nearby riverside. It sends the clear message that anyone can visit without the anxiety of whether they can recharge.

“Supporting residents and businesses to move away from petrol and diesel vehicles, which are the leading contributor of greenhouse gases in the Borough, is a key element of the Council’s aim to reduce these harmful emissions in the Borough and improved air quality.”

“We’re pleased to support Tewkesbury Borough Council with our highly reliable charging solutions and dedicated service and maintenance support,” says Justin Meyer, Managing Director of SWARCO Smart Charging. “This new hub, in the heart of Tewkesbury town centre, provides local residents and visitors with much needed access to convenient and reliable EV charging.”
