Lucy Electric launches dedicated EV infrastructure business

3 November 2025 by Googler
  • Lucy Electric and Lucy Zodion’s EV infrastructure activities are being combined under a new, dedicated entity – Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure Ltd.
  • The new business will deliver an integrated range of EV infrastructure solutions, from package substations and distribution pillars to full lifecycle support.
  • A new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Sowerby Bridge will expand capacity, reduce lead times, and support long-term growth in the rapidly growing EV sector.

Lucy Electric, an international leader in the cutting-edge design and manufacture of switchgear and digital solutions for electrical distribution networks and EV infrastructure, has today announced a significant step forward in its support for the transition to e-mobility. Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure Ltd (LEEVI) will combine the market-leading engineering expertise of Lucy Electric and Lucy Zodion to provide a holistic solution for EV charging installations.

Demand for EV infrastructure has accelerated rapidly over recent years. Growing consumer preference for sustainable transport and corporate commitments to greener fleets drove battery electric vehicles to account for one fifth of all new car registrations in April this year. By integrating the offer from substation to street, Lucy Electric is bringing together the engineering excellence of its package substations with the feeder pillar solutions customers need to enable charging infrastructure.

Customers will benefit from an innovative team with the capabilities and capacity to respond faster to the evolving needs of the market, embedding monitoring and lifecycle support as part of one coordinated team. Lucy Electric is also investing in a new, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Sowerby Bridge. This expansion will increase production capacity, reduce lead times, and support long-term growth across both domestic and international markets.

Commenting on the creation of the new entity, John Griffiths, Lucy Electric CEO, said: “As demand for EVs continues to grow, the creation of LEEVI builds on our heritage of making powerful connections between today’s charging needs and tomorrow’s electric future. Whether for forecourts, supermarket car parks, fleet depots, or rapid charge stations, we bring the simplicity that comes from a single partner for the essential infrastructure needed for their charge point provider.

“Our integrated approach means customers have an end-to-end partner they can trust, supplying and fitting high-quality, safe, and compliant infrastructure. Combining local knowledge with the strength of our heritage, Lucy Electric delivers agile, responsive engineering solutions attuned to the complexities of modern grids and utilities.”
