Brownboro Hardware & Paint EggFEST Raises Record Funds

Brownsboro Hardware and Paint’s annual EGGFest Food Festival raised a new record high amount this year, with funds raised going to two local food-related charities.

“This is the largest one-year increase in our history, and it shows that once again, the community has come through for us,” says Doug Carroll, owner of Brownsboro Hardware & Paint. “We are grateful to the people who made it happen—the cooks, the chefs, the sponsors and all those who attended this year’s EGGFest Food Festival. We feel an obligation to give back to the community, and together, we have once again been able to make a difference.”

A total of $48,381 will be split between Kentucky Harvest and A Recipe to End Hunger. Both checks—$24,190.50 for each charity—were presented to representatives of the two food-related charities.

“The success of EggFEST is a reflection of the generosity and compassion of our community,” says Heather Stewart, executive director of Kentucky Harvest. “We are incredibly grateful for every sponsor, volunteer, chef, donor and attendee who makes this event possible. Their support helps us rescue good food that might otherwise go to waste and deliver it to our nonprofit partners serving our neighbors in need. Every dollar raised provides 4 meals, making this event not only a celebration of great food and community, but also a powerful investment in the fight against hunger.”

This year’s record is also due in large part to the online silent auction, which took in nearly $17,000, thanks to the generosity and donations of dozens of small local businesses and organizations.

“100 percent of these funds raised by Brownsboro Hardware & Paint and donated to ‘A Recipe to End Hunger’ will go right back into the community and into the bellies of those in need,” says Dawne Gee, founder of A Recipe to End Hunger. “Need is up like never before because studies show that giving is at a three decades low.  We are often called on by many nonprofits in our city in emergency situations. We so appreciate how the community has embraced EggFEST to make a change for food insecure individuals in our neighborhoods who have no idea where their next meal will come from.”
