Azwimbavhi Mamanyuha, Eskom General Manager: New Business Engineering, Innovation and Localisation, shares how collaboration, technical expertise and knowledge exchange are helping South Africa strengthen grid stability.
He explains how South Africa is fortunate enough to have engineers who are well-versed in grid stability techniques.
“We know that by sharing that with other people, we benchmark ourselves with international people and … we contribute to international standards,” said Mamanyuha.
As more countries in Africa put up new renewable energy resources and connect them to national grids, electricity utilities are having to look to new technologies to keep the grid stable. And, as Mamnyuha points out, South Africa’s Eskom is in the fortunate position to learn from and teach other utilities about grid stability.
