LiGE – Leaper Innovate Green Energies
Description
Medium and Large Energy Users require cost effective, stable power and water supply.
LiGE’s Qube is a power storage system using Compressed Air Energy Storage “CAES” that provides the customer with the ability to store energy at low tariff and utilize the energy at high peak times.
Unlike Batteries we do not use rare earth metals nor suffer from short lifespans;
Unlike Generators we have a zero carbon footprint.
Our solution is cost effective with a 30-year lifespan and almost infinite storage life, a zero carbon footprint, producing water as a by-product. The control system is constantly monitored by a CRM system for maximum efficiency and peace of mind.
Our only by-product is WATER!
A secondary product, distilled water, can be used for irrigation, cleaning and other related applications as it contains no chemicals or ionization. To make it into drinking water it will require a few inexpensive chemicals such as trace elements i.e. calcium. A 50KwH storage system produces approximately 700L of distilled water per day.
Our Mission Statement
LiGE provide accessible, innovative, “Cleantech” energy storage technology.
Addressing the energy supply and cost challenges that large energy users, face in the world today.
Leaper Qube – Compressed Air Energy Storage
What is Power Storage? A method by which Electrical Energy is kept for future use
Why do we need it? To balance demand and/or supply backup power
The Solution! No rare earth metals are used, at the end of the systems lifespan all the parts are recyclable, nothing to landfill.
Zero Carbon Emissions. The LiGE Air Battery Energy Storage System’s by-product is WATER
The LiGE Qube/Air Battery/Eco-mc² is a Compressed Air Energy Storage System. The operation is based upon the use of renewable energy such as Solar P.V and/or Wind turbine but work well with Grid linked mains.
- Heat to storage for use during power generation and cooling for the system.
- Water extraction and provision to utilisation as a water generator.
- Power storage into compressed air tanks above ground.
- Air cleaning as a by-product of the air utilisation of atmospheric air.
- Recuperating piston compressor two stage.
- Electric permanent magnet or reluctance motor with Variable frequency drive
- Direct contact heat exchanger / compressor body / compress air system.
- Water removal at the first and second compressor.
- Heat reintroduction at expander.
- Maintenance of isothermal in the range 25 to 40deg C.
- Stainless steel compressor cylinders.
- Flywheel technology for stability
- Autonomous system operation.
The power derived from:
- Solar P.V. as a DC input.
- Three phase AC.
- Rotating shaft from a turbine.
- Other.
Above input power/s is applied to the compressor via electric motor, the energy is stored as compressed air.
- As the compressing air passes through the heat exchanger the heat is removed and stored in the heat tank.
- During compression the air is dried, and the water stored.
- The compressed air is stored in specialised tanks for use as the driving force in the generation mode.
- The system is designed to remain Isothermal at 25°C to 40°C.
- Round trip efficiencies approximately ~74%
- The entire system is controlled via Valves and an automation controller.
During the power return phase when the stored energy is required the system releases the air via the heat exchanger which, connected to the heat storage, warms the expanding air into the compressor –now working as a motor (but not reversing the direction of rotation).
This in turn drives the Generator three phase motor, a flywheel is attached to the generator to act as a compensator for fluctuations and produces a stable load regulated AC source.

Of all the storage technologies available this is ONE that I had that AHA moment for – easy to understand and not ‘dark science’ like, dare I say it, Supercaps. Nice précis of the capabilities here too: https://mypr.co.za/could-this-be-nelson-mandela-bays-saving-grace/
